Arizona Recycling Coalition becomes ‘Circular Arizona’

Terry Gellenbeck, the Arizona Recycling Coalition’s current board chair, announced that the Arizona Recycling Coalition would be changing its name to “Circular Arizona” at last week’s Symposium event.

The new name aims to be more inclusive of varied circular economy initiatives — including recycling, reuse, reduction, and waste as a resource — and better reflects the organization’s updated vision: “We envision an equitable circular economy for a sustainable Arizona.”

Through months of work with facilitation professionals at Southwest Decision Resources, Circular Arizona’s board of directors have created a long-range, strategic plan to broaden the organization’s mission, better serve its members, and establish key goals and priorities.

The long-range plan will be a dynamic document to serve the organization’s membership and all Arizonans as members “foster an equitable circular economy and connect Arizonans through innovation, education, and collaboration.”

Circular Arizona’s high-level goals include:

  • Ensure Organizational Sustainability

  • Build Membership

  • Connect and Empower Members

  • Enhance Awards Programs

  • Educate on and Engage with Policy Issues

  • Provide Educational Resources

In the coming weeks and months, Circular Arizona members and the general public will notice changes to the organization’s website, email newsletters, social media accounts, and services. The best way to stay in the loop with Circular Arizona is to sign up for our emails.
